“Protesters beat up 11 convicts, six of them were hospitalized in the medical part of the institution,” RIA Novosti reports , citing a representative of the Federal Penitentiary Service.
The protesters demanded a relaxation of the conditions of detention. According to the Gulagu.net website, we are talking about bullying both from the administration of the colony and from activists - prisoners collaborating with the security forces.
The regional Investigative Committee has already opened criminal cases under Part 3 of Art. 212 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (calls for mass riots) and Part 1 of Art. 321 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (disorganization of the activities of institutions that ensure isolation from society).
“According to the investigation, on the morning of May 10, 2015, in the maximum security correctional colony IK-2 in the city of Salavat, where convicts who have committed serious and especially serious crimes are kept, an action of group disobedience of convicts took place. More than 100 convicts refused to comply with the legal demands of the administration. About 20 convicts, having beaten 11 activists who were observing the regime, barricaded themselves in the premises of one of the detachments. The protesters demanded a relaxation of regime requirements. 6 people beaten by rioting prisoners were hospitalized,” says the website of the Bashkir Investigative Committee.
