Chris Berden was born in 1946 in Boston, received a bachelor's degree of arts, physics and architecture in the Pomona College (California), and the master's degree at the University of Kalform in Irvain (1971).

Fame came to the artist in the early 1970s, when he showed a series of provocative performances, the central idea of ​​which was the idea of ​​personal danger as a means of artistic expression. So, in the performance “Shoot” (1971), Berden shot his hand from a gun, and in the performance “Trans-Fixed” (1974) the artist was crucified by car.

In the mid-70s, Berden began working with the video, in the late 70s began to create objects, installations and technological or mechanical inventions of objects, installations and technological or mechanical inventions.

In 1978, Berden became a professor at the University of California and left this post in 2005 due to a conflict with a student who performed his performance.

Chris Burden exhibited and showed his performances in many museums of the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in Los Angeles, the Museum of Conceptual Art in San Francisco, the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, the Museum and Garden of the Khirshorn sculptures in Washington, the Pompido Center in London, took part in Biennale Whitney in New York and in the Venetian Biennale of Modern Art.
