Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that his meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry, who arrived in Sochi on Tuesday, went “wonderfully,” RIA Novosti reports .

The meeting between Lavrov and Kerry lasted about four hours. Following the negotiations, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry presented his American colleague with Krasnodar tomatoes and potatoes, as well as a T-shirt with the symbols of the Victory, said Deputy Head of the Information and Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova.

After this, the US Secretary of State went to negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting took place at the residence of the Russian leader, Bocharov Ruchey. Lavrov was also present at the negotiations, Interfax reports .

According to the agency, at the beginning of the meeting, Putin and Kerry shook hands. In addition, Lavrov told something to the Russian leader, who listened to the minister with a smile, and Kerry added something to this, Interfax reports. The reporters did not hear the words. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov previously said that at the negotiations, Putin and Kerry will discuss, first of all, bilateral relations between Russia and the United States, and then all the “hot spots.” According to Peskov, the Russian side did not include the topic of sanctions on the agenda. “This is not an issue on our agenda. But if our interlocutors raise this topic, then we naturally state our position,” explained the presidential press secretary.
