The Transneft company, headed by Nikolai Tokarev , has decided to completely exit the engineering business and is liquidating three subsidiaries - LLC Transneftstroy -Bryansk , LLC Transneftstroy -Omsk and LLC Transneftstroy -Tyumen , newspaper reported on Tuesday the Kommersant with reference to informed sources .

“Exiting construction assets is part of the company’s strategy,” Transneft confirmed this information to the publication. The decision to liquidate three subsidiaries was made last week by the Transneft board.

These three subsidiaries were created in 2013 and replaced the largest contractor for the construction of the second stage of the Eastern Siberia - Pacific Ocean (ESPO-2) oil pipeline, Transneftstroy.

Transneftstroy was created in 2009, when construction of the second stage of ESPO-2 began. Transneft explained its creation by “inflated demands” from third-party contractors.

Transneftstroy has become the largest contractor for ESPO-2, having built almost half of the pipeline (about 2000 km). The remaining plots were received by Stroyinnovatsiya Ziyavudin Magomedov , Stroygazconsultin Ziyad Manasir and Stroytransgaz Gennady Timchenko .

After the completion of construction of ESPO-2, Transneftstroy was no longer needed, the newspaper’s sources explained. Its functions were transferred to LLCs, which are now being liquidated, and they were involved in the repair of the Druzhba pipeline and the construction of the Zapolyarye-Purpe pipeline. But this model turned out to be not very effective, the monopoly said.
