The Turkish fighter shot down a Syrian aircraft that violated the airspace

The Turkish Air Force fighter F-16 shot down a Syrian aircraft near the border of the two states, the Turkish television channel NTV reports on Saturday. The type of aircraft is not specified. The Syrian side has a different version of what happened: it was not a plane shot down, but a “drone” that carried out an intelligence flight, Reuters reports with reference to Syrian TV.

According to preliminary information, a downed plane fell on Syrian territory.

RIA Novosti with reference to Haber7 reports that the Syrian aircraft violated the airspace in the sky above the province of Hatai. Two missiles were released on it.

In March 2014, Turkish air defense shot down the Syrian fighter MiG-23 in the country's airspace. The Syrian authorities disputed the allegations of crossing the border by plane and accused Turkey of aggravating the Syrian crisis.
