On Twitter, I follow Yegor Kholmogorov, now a colorful figure on the extreme flank of our "party of hawks", that is, a refined supporter of the destruction of Ukraine (and, thinking to the end, Russia's self-destruction in the flashes of a planetary atomic fire). When Egor is not tweeting, an unstable peace is established in my feed, where Muscovites, Kievans, residents of Donbass are represented. After all, people live on both sides of the border and somehow try to improve their lives. In recent months, when it became clear that there would be no Crimean scenario for Donbass, even a tentative search for mutual understanding took place. But when Kholmogorov returns, we find ourselves at the front, in the epicenter of the militaristic frenzy. And these same ones we are waging a war of annihilation with the whole world, except for some temporary allies, for the sake of greatness and historical justice. To the west of Donetsk lies a supposedly dark, incompetent, even incapable of articulate speech evil spirits. Infinitely vile and cynical subhumans, known as "ukry", dream of one thing - to crucify our boys and forbid us to speak our native language. Of course, we have to destroy them, not knowing pity for this "human force of the enemy", and each act of such destruction gives us unprecedented joy.
We savor death daily, because the enemy is cruel, and we must be harsh.
One of my good friends even came up with such a sad game. Subscribe to Kholmogorov - and you want to join the militia and kill. Unsubscribe from Kholmogorov - and again there is time to think about yourself, your family and your home. Someone, it seems, for the same purposes, uses the former writer, who served in recent years as a columnist for Gabrelyanov, Eduard Limonov. Cowardly pacifists like us think it's better for people to talk than to shoot. But this categorically does not suit our ultra-right. Every day for the last year they have been proving that our Russian national idea is war, and as one wise blogger recently wrote, our national costume is khaki.
It is enough to dream for fifteen years about how the Russians will go out to die in the snow for the sake of a great empire, and now in 2014 you already find yourself in a round dance of propagandists somewhere between Prokhanov and Kiselev. It happens at the moment when your depressive fantasies suddenly coincided with the manic state policy. But then, when the general line changes, you will, of course, be thrown away like rags.
Putin is demonstratively losing interest in Ukraine. “Putin is not going to fight,” the nationalists write with disappointed aggression. In Donetsk, there are arrests of the National Bolsheviks who came there to die for the "Russian World". Even Pushilin from the “DPR” speaks about the possibility of the existence of unrecognized republics within Ukraine in accordance with the Minsk agreements. What a huge loss for the "Russian World": people will stop fighting. Unbearable pain, military-patriotic hearts bleed. Limonov writes on his blog: they say, a catastrophe, the Russian authorities do not go further in the "DPR", the revolution is over, and "there is only hope for a war with Kiev." And he sighs resignedly. On Kholmogorov's Twitter - war, war! Keep fighting now! Do not compromise under any circumstances! Convince Putin: Russians are not afraid of nuclear war, we are ready to attack the West, we ourselves will attack the West.
I look at this and think: yes, you don’t need any Ukraine, you just need blood, you get pleasure from reports of losses. That is, everything is finally clear.
After all, there have long been suspicions that your invented “Russian World” has no boundaries, that it is not at all a geographical or even a cultural concept. And now we do know its working definition. The “Russian world” of nationalists is when people are killed. This "Russian world", if you resort to such an unimportant play on words, is a war.
