The court will consider the legality of extending the house arrest of Yankauskas

Yankauskas was placed under house arrest on June 11 last year on charges of fraud in financing the election campaign Alexei Navalny

The Moscow City Court today is expected to consider the legality of extending the house arrest of an opposition policy, municipal deputy Konstantin Yankauskas, accused of fraud in financing the election campaign of Moscow candidate, oppositionist Alexei Navalny.

In mid -April, the Presnensky court of Moscow, at the request of the investigation, extended the deadline for house arrest of Yankauskas until June 11. The oppositionist, speaking in court, accused the investigation of Delo. According to him, the investigation has been going on for 10 months, but there is still not a single victim in the case.

Yankauskas was placed under house arrest on June 11 last year . According to investigators, he, as well as businessmen, Nikolai Lyaskin and Vladimir Ashurkov, were transferred a million rubles to Navalny’s account, which ran for mayors of Moscow in 2013, and then collected voluntary donations in the amount of 10 million rubles and appropriated them. Yankauskas rejects all the accusations.

The human rights organization "Memorial" recognized Yankauskas as a political prisoner.
