Vienna's authorities decided to forever leave “homosexual” traffic lights on the street
Viennese traffic lights with homosexual pairs painted on them will remain in Vienna forever. As the mayor of Vienna, Maria Vassilok, said, these traffic lights have already acquired a cult status.
Road signs, on which, instead of lonely men, silhouettes of same -sex steam light up were installed at 47 intersections as a sign of tolerance. Initially, it was planned to remove them in June, after a series of LGBT events ended in the city.
The installation of traffic lights cost the city 63 thousand euros. The Austrian right -hand Party of Freedom announced that it intends to achieve criminal prosecution of Vassilok for violating the rules of the road and a waste of money of taxpayers.
New traffic lights were installed during the Eurovision Song Contest, which takes place in May in Vienna. The competition became a symbol of tolerance after in 2014 it was won by the “bearded lady” of Conchit Vurst.
