Activists of the All-Russian Popular Front (ONF) in Komi opposed the production of gold and silver badges for parliamentarians of the republic using budget funds, according to the ONF website.

Information about the competition for the production and supply of deputy badges, announced by the Komi State Council, appeared on the government procurement portal on May 21. The size of the deputy breastplate insignia should be 30 by 16.5 mm, made of silver, and the inscription and image of the coat of arms on it should be made of gold. A total of 30 such badges are expected to be purchased. The total cost of the purchase is 68 thousand rubles. Thus, one badge will cost 2 thousand 267 rubles, as follows from the data on the government procurement portal.

The ONF proposes that the State Council of the Republic refuse to purchase badges made of gold and silver, “and spend the saved funds more judiciously.” “I don’t think that the meaning of the deputy badge will change if it is made not from expensive precious metals, but from simpler materials. On the contrary, in this case there will only be a positive meaning, taking into account the fact that the sign is intended for, as they say, servants of the people,” said co-chairman of the regional headquarters of the ONF in Komi, Askhab Askhabov.

The ONF website notes that activists sent information about this government purchase to the website of the Popular Front project “For Honest Purchases,” where they described the government purchase as dubious.
