The great English film director Peter Greenai rewrote the script of the film "Eisenstein's handshake" in accordance with the requirements of the State Film Fund. This was reported by Izvestia with reference to the head of the department of Nikolai Borodachev. In particular, the publication notes, the topic of Eisenstein's homosexuality is excluded from the script.
“At first, we had different creative views, but we found a consensus,” said Borodachev. “We offered him (Greenaway. - Ed.) To change some details and eventually came to a positive result.”
Filming will begin in the near future, the official added.
In early January, it became known that the State Film Fund returned the script "Eisenstein's handshake" Greenaway "for revision. As Borodachev explained, Greenway paid increased attention of the intimate life of his hero, without bypassing the topic of homosexuality.
The State Film Fund finances shooting along with private firms from Switzerland, Latvia and Finland. In addition, Greenway intends to use the archival materials of the Russian department in the picture. However, Borodachev said if the director refuses to rewrite the script, the Russian side will leave the project. The script should "first of all fit for our viewer," the official emphasized.
"I do not want to talk about this (homosexuality. - Ed.), But just this topic in the script does not suit us," said Borodachev.
Meanwhile, a few days later, the official stated that the claims of the State Film Fund to the script of Eisenstein's handshakes are in no way related to the topic of the hero’s homosexuality , but relate exclusively to the interpretation of Greenaeus of Eisenstein's work.
“It was presented there that the ship (in the Eisenstein“ battleship ”Potemkin. - Ed.) Was removed so, but he was actually removed differently,” Borodachev assured. - There are purely professional questions. "
The official also stated that Greenaeus did not put forward any official claims. According to him, there was a discussion about the approach to the topic, "just a creative process."
In the films of Greenaei sexual life, heroes invariably pay much attention. Such, in particular, is the painting "Night Watch" (2007) dedicated to Rembrandt. No claims of the Dutch authorities against the director were reported in connection with the production of this film.
Eisenstein Greenway spoke as one of the greatest directors in history, also emphasizing the significant influence of his paintings on his own creativity.
Earlier, Greenway has already shot a film about Eisenstein - Eisenstein in Guanahuato. Its world premiere took place in the main competition program of the 65th Berlin Film Festival in February 2015. Chronic personnel in this film are combined with staged scenes and inserts of various kinds, including animation, based on Eisenstein's drawings.
