Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said his country is ready to diversify its gas sources, which is “very important for American friends,” reports AP . As the agency notes, we are talking about connecting to the Trans Adriatic Gas Pipeline (TAP), which will be built as part of the Southern Gas Corridor, through which gas will be supplied to Europe from the Azerbaijani Shah Deniz field.

At the same time, Serbia is ready to join the implementation of the Turkish Stream project, through which Russia would like to supply gas to Central Europe, bypassing Ukraine.

In July 2014, Belgrade signed a €2.1 billion contract for the construction of South Stream. However, at the end of the year this project was canceled. Vucic then expressed disappointment, noting that Serbia had been working on this project for seven years.

The Turkish Stream must reach the Turkish border with the European Union. It is assumed that Russian gas will be supplied to Austria and Germany through Greece, Macedonia, Serbia and Hungary. Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said on May 27 that in such matters his country will follow Euro-Atlantic policy and will wait to see if Russia reaches an agreement with the EU.
