Scientist and blogger of Open Russia amnestied

Nizhny Novgorod scientist Vladimir Golubev, accused of divulging state secrets, agreed to apply an amnesty act to him, his lawyer Yevgeny Gubin told Interfax. In 2013, explosives specialist Golubev made a scientific report at a conference in the Czech Republic, which was then published in a scientific collection. The publication of this report was the reason for initiating in the summer of 2014 against a scientist a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 283 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (disclosure of state secrets). The case is being processed by the investigative department of the Federal Security Service of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Golubev's apartment was searched, computer equipment and hard drives were confiscated.

According to the defense of the accused, the scientist did not divulge any state secrets. In 2013, Golubev was fired from the Russian Federal Nuclear Center, where he had worked since 1975, and is now retired. On April 22, the Sarov City Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region granted the investigator's petition and arrested Golubev for two months for violating his travel ban and proper behavior. According to investigators, the accused continued to carry out illegal activities, as he actively maintained his blog on the Open Russia website.
