The Russian Foreign Ministry explained the introduction of a “black list” of Europeans

A TASS source in the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the Russian authorities imposed a ban on entry for 89 EU citizens in response to European Union sanctions.

“They (the lists — approx. Meduza) were transferred to our European partners in a confidential form, and their publication remains on the conscience of the respective countries. One thing is not clear: did the European colleagues need these lists to minimize the inconvenience for potential “refuseniks” or to arrange another political show?” the source said.

“A similar list exists for US citizens, but it should be noted that in this case, our American partners behave more constructively than European ones,” he told reporters.

• On May 29, the Finnish media published a list of European politicians who are banned from entering Russia. Persona non grata included members of the European Parliament and other European politicians. The Russian Foreign Ministry was against the publication of the list.
• The European Parliament imposed sanctions against several dozen Russian and Ukrainian politicians in connection with the conflict in Ukraine. Among them were Russian deputies and officials.
