Yevgeny Baburin, the leader of the Krasnoyarsk branch of Solidarity, is currently at the police station, where he is giving an explanation about the attack. Here is what Yevgeny Bakhotsky, an activist of the Krasnoyarsk Solidarity party, told OVD-Info:
“Evgeny Alekseevich Baburin is alive. His health was almost unaffected. According to him, the armed gang that beat him and kidnapped him an hour before the start of the agreed picket against the war in Ukraine received orders to take him to a deserted place. There they abandoned him. During the abduction, his glasses were lost, without which he almost cannot see, he was looking for a way to get out for a long time, and reported his approximate location by phone. Since he could not give any exact address, the police spent a lot of time looking for him. Now Yevgeny Alekseevich is in Krasnoyarsk Police Department No. 2, giving explanations about his beating and kidnapping.”
According to Bakhotsky, in the week preceding the picket, actions to persecute activists intensified, at least five people were injured, one of the organizers of the picket, Solidarity activist Sergei Zinov, was beaten on May 29 in the very center of the city, immediately after he left from the city hall building from the meeting dedicated to the picket. “FSB workers began to go to work with activists and talk with the authorities about the fact that an extremist is allegedly working for you,” Bakhotsky says. According to the activist, the picket is almost broken.
