The European Parliament limited free access to the Russian Permanent Representative to the EU Vladimir Chizhov, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the press service of the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz. In addition, the EP interrupted his participation in the EU-Russia parliamentary cooperation committee, notes with reference to Schulz Interfax .
"The European Parliament limits free access to the Assembly for the ambassador and one other specific diplomat," the press release says. This step was a response to the published black list of European functionaries who are closed to the entrance to Russia, RIA Novosti notes.
As explained in TASS in the press service of the European Parliament, Chizhov will be able to visit the European Parliament, "however, he will need to request a pass for every visit."
The Permanent Representative of Russia under the EU could not provide an operational comment. “So far there are no comments on our part. There is nowhere to rush,” said RBC a representative of the Russian Permanent Protection under the European Union. According to him, the reaction may follow on Wednesday, June 3, Vladimir Chizhov himself is "at the event."
Earlier, the European Commission described the appearance of a black list of 89 European politicians who are prohibited from entering Russia as an arbitrary and unreasonable measure. According to the representative of the head of the EU diplomacy, Maya Kosyankchich, Russia never provided an explanation why certain European politicians were included in the list, and thereby violated the principle of transparency on which the European Union insisted.
