Poletaev: Sberbank will continue to file bankruptcy claims against Mechel’s subsidiaries

Sberbank of Russia will continue to file bankruptcy claims against Mechel companies. Interfax reports this with reference to a statement by the first deputy chairman of the bank’s board, Maxim Poletaev.

“The bank offered Mechel acceptable principles for restructuring, but received no response,” Poletaev said. “In the absence of constructive proposals from Mechel and its beneficiary and systematic delays in debt payments, the bank uses legal methods to protect the rights and interests of its shareholders and depositors,” he added.

The deputy chairman of the board noted that the filing of bankruptcy petitions by Sberbank Leasing for the Korshunovsky Mining and Processing Plant, Yakutugol, and Metallurgshakhtspetsstroy corresponds to this position of the financial organization. “If new grounds arise, the bank will continue to file appropriate applications with the courts,” Poletaev emphasized.
