The Executive Committee of the International Football Federation (FIFA) has decided that the 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held in Russia as planned. The decision of the executive committee is final. Former FIFA vice-president Vyacheslav Koloskov told the TASS news agency about this on Thursday, June 4.

“There is no risk of a postponement,” Koloskov said, noting that foreign politicians of various ranks, “from American to our neighbors,” spoke about the possibility of changing the venue of the World Cup. “However, at the last FIFA executive committee, which was held with a new composition, it was decided that there would be no changes regarding the venue of the 2018 World Cup,” emphasized the honorary president of the Russian Football Union (RFU). “It was voiced by the representative of Germany - the head of the German Football Association Wolfgang Niersbach,” he added.

“We should put an end to this,” Koloskov concluded.

Earlier on Thursday, Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko noted that FIFA has no questions for Russia regarding the application to host the 2018 World Cup. “There was a special investigation... One conclusion was made by our legal committee, that there are no questions in connection with the regulations.” , - said Mutko. “FIFA handed over this dossier to the Swiss prosecutor’s office. I can assure you all that we should not have any worries here and we are calmly preparing,” he said.

On Wednesday, German Justice Minister Heiko Maas said FIFA's decisions on World Cup host countries should be reconsidered if bribery is established in the organization during the selection of tournament venues.
