Fifth International Pianists Competition named after S.V. Rakhmaninova will take place in Moscow in 2016. The competition will resume after a three -year break.

This was announced by the chairman of the board and vice president of the Rachmaninovskiy Society Tamara Parshina, TASS .

“Rachmaninov’s competition resumes after a three -year break, he was postponed for a long time for financial reasons. This year we have gathered an interesting circle of partners who believe that Rakhmaninov’s competition is necessary, ”Parshina said.

According to her, the idea of ​​reviving the competition was supported by the Academy of Arts. Liszt, Academy named after Gnesins, Moscow Conservatory, Sicilian Piano Academy, several funds. The most significant work is carried out by the Russian Academic Fund. Now there is a formation of the organizing committee and the composition of the jury of the competition.

The competition will be held in four disciplines: in 2016, pianists will compete, in 2017-vocalists, in 2018-composers. Then, for the first time, a competition of musicology will be held.

Khmaninov was established in 1981 on the initiative of the professor of the Moscow Conservatory Viktor Merzhanov, twice passed as the All -Union, since 1993 as an international. Among the winners of the competition, world famous pianists Andrei Pisarev and Alexander Sinchuk.
