The head of Chuvashia resigned

President Vladimir Putin dismissed the head of the Republic of Chuvashiy Mikhail Ignatiev. The text of the relevant decree is published on the Kremlin website. By the same decree, Putin appointed him the temporary head of the region.

This is not the first voluntary resignation of the heads of regions in recent years. According to RBC, in total the Kremlin planned to hold the elections of governors in the 21st region this year. In three more entities, including North Ossetia, regional parliaments will be elected as the head of the presidential.

The country's leadership has a desire to unload from the 2016-2018 elections - during this period the State Duma and the President will be elected.

Earlier, the head of the Leningrad region Alexander Drozdenko, the head of the Irkutsk region Sergey Eroshchenko, the head of the Kamchatka Territory Vladimir Ilyukhin and a number of governors, have already received the right to go to early elections. In early May, the president relieved the head of North Ossetia Taimuraz Mamsurov.

To transfer the elections of governors whose powers expire in 2016-2017 were the first to propose experts at the Prochrevsky Foundation of ISEPI Dmitry Badovsky in November 2012. Among the arguments, they called the strengthening of the legitimacy of regional authorities before the Duma elections of 2016, preventing the intra -elite conflict between the governor and a single -mandate who may have governor ambitions after passing into the State Duma (this concerns the Governor's elections in 2017), a decrease in the risks of destabilizing the situation on the eve of the 2018 presidential election.
