The Simonovsky Court of Moscow sentenced the secretary of the board of the interregional trade union of the protection of the rights of labor migrants "Protection" Pavel Kovalenko to two years in prison in a colony of general regime. Kovalenko was found guilty under part 1 of Article 322.1 of the Criminal Code (organization of illegal stay of foreign citizens). From January 2013 to June 2014, he registered 56 thousand foreign citizens at the addresses on the streets of Leninskaya Sloboda and Avtozavodskaya in Moscow.

"In fact, these addresses were located premises of two and three rooms, which were occupied by the Protection Trade Union and where foreigners did not live and did not live and did not carry out any work," the report said.

The Protection Trade Union was organized in 2009. Among his statutory goals are “counteracting illegal labor migration and legalization of labor relations of migrants”.
