The Council of Europe called on Russia to pay with the ex-actioners of Yukos, who won the lawsuit in the ECHR

The Council of Europe reminded Russia of the duty to Yukos. The CE Committee of the ETD complained that the Russian Federation is not in a hurry to comply with the decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) to prepare a plan for the payment of compensation to former shareholders of the Yukos oil company. The committee expressed concern that Russia is not going to execute the decision and does not respect it.

The committee called on the Kremlin to coordinate with him a plan for the distribution of payments to shareholders and name the terms of these payments. It is assumed that Moscow will fulfill the KMSU requirement by June 15 - this date appears in a court decision as a deadline, before which Russia should decide on the methods of payments. The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe explained that if Russia provides the necessary papers to the organization’s secretariat, then the plan can be discussed in a subject by the September session of the Council.

The press service of the Council of Europe RBC explained that while the Committee of Ministers is waiting for the offensive of the deadline before making any decision.

Andrei Fedorov, the head of the apparatus of the authorized Russia in the European Court, said that the requirement of ministers to Moscow to “make every effort” to fulfill the decision of the judge, was taken into account, but further information will be considered taking into account the interests of the Russian Federation, the New Gazeta reports.

We are talking about the amount collected by the shareholders of the company through the European Court of Human Rights about a year ago. The resolution of the ECHR on the payment of Yukos shareholders of 1.9 billion euros on their complaint against Russia was adopted on July 31, 2014. Russia appealed it at the end of October 2014, but the ECHR rejected this complaint, and on December 16, 2014, the decision nevertheless entered into force .

Yukos claims to Russia are not exhausted by the amount of 1.9 billion euros. In July 2014, the arbitration court in the Hague ordered Russia to pay compensation to former shareholders of Yukos $ 50 billion. On January 15, 2015, the term expired when Russia could pay the amount appointed by the Hague court without interest. Now she accrues interest in the amount of 2.6 million dollars per day. According to media reports, almost $ 360 million had already drunk interest. At the end of May, the shareholders asked for assistance from the West to demand this amount.
