Anna Melikyan’s painting “About Love” received the main prize of the 26th Open Russian Film Festival “Kinotavr” in Sochi, as well as a prize of film distributors. The Melikyan film is a collection of several short stories with the participation of Renata Litvinova, Mikhail Efremov, Evgenia Tsyganov, Vladimir Mashkov, Ravshany Kurkova. According to the director, she tried to make exclusively a spectator cinema for rental and did not expect such a jury choice. President of the Michaela Tariverdiev charity foundation Vera Tariverdieva considers the orientation of the director of the winner for wide rental by the dignity of the picture, not a drawback. “Of the twenty -six Kinotavra, I was twenty -four,” she said The New Times, “and I can say that for many years the author’s cinema won here in Sochi, which was in no way connected with the surrounding reality. Anna Melikyan reacts acutely and ironically to what is happening today in society, but does it not rudely. The film really deserved its award. "
According to Tariverdieva, this year in Sochi there were young directors who had come to Sochi with short ribbons in Sochi, and now their films receive prizes in the main program. She recalls that the film “About Love” was born from a short film, which was shown on the Kinotavr a year ago and was awarded a special jury diploma in the “Short Meter” program. As for the director Mikhail Radutsky, whose film “A rag union” received the Kinotavr prize for the best acting ensemble this year, he received the Grand Prix of the Short Meter program in 2012 (the film “Legs-Atavism).
Recall that in total, 36 paintings were presented in the competition program of the ending festival, of which 14 were in the main competition. The prize "For the best directing" was received by director Alexei Fedorchenko with the film "The Angels of the Revolution" (see The New Times No. 19 of June 8, 2015). For the best female role, actress Polina Grishina (“Salvation” by Ivan Vrypaeva) was awarded, and the award for the best male role of the jury, headed by Alexei, was divided between four actors - Vasily Butkevich, Alexander Palel, Pavel Chinarev, Ivan Yankovsky. The prize for the best debut got the film by Ella Gufferaeva “Seagulls”, shot in Kalmyk, and the work of Vasily Sigarev and Andrei Ilyenkov in the Land Country Feed was recognized as the best script.
