Today, the international air show opens in Le Bourget, France. Russian aircraft manufacturers and airlines do not plan to sign contracts for the purchase and sale of aircraft there. Representatives of the United Aircraft Corporation ( UAC ), Russian Helicopters, Siberia, and Transaero , as well as sources in Aeroflot and UTair , told Vedomosti about this.

Russian airlines do not need new aircraft. Aeroflot already has a large package of contracts for foreign aircraft, including the Airbus-320, Airbus-350, Boeing-787 Dreamliner and Boeing-777. Siberia rarely takes aircraft directly from manufacturers, and Transaero and UTair are more likely to reduce their carrying capacity than to increase it, says Andrey Kramarenko, a research fellow at the Higher School of Economics.

In Le Bourget, negotiations will be held and agreements on the delivery of civil aircraft will be prepared, says a UAC representative. However, if successful, the documents themselves will be signed at the MAKS air show, which will be held in August in Zhukovsky, Moscow Region. The UAC representative did not specify with whom the negotiations are being held, saying only that these are Russian and foreign airlines in priority markets for the company.

There is a whole range of reasons why UAC cannot successfully sell the Sukhoi Superjet (SSJ) to foreign customers, notes Andrey Rozhkov, an analyst at IFC Metropol. Among them are the aircraft's childhood illnesses and the lack of leasing companies that are capable of financing the transfer of the aircraft at an affordable rate in conditions where their residual value is unknown. The depreciation of the ruble has not become a competitive advantage either, due to the low localization of the aircraft's production, Rozhkov adds.

The SSJ will be presented at the air show, but will not fly. The aircraft will be exhibited in the livery of the Mexican company Interjet, the largest foreign buyer of this aircraft so far. Also, the “on the ground” program will feature a new version of the flight simulator for training the crews of the MS-21 family of aircraft. The MS-21 itself will only be in the form of a model.

UAC does not plan to conclude agreements for the supply of military equipment. Last year, Russia flew a modern fourth-generation Su-35 fighter jet at Le Bourget. This year, the military program will be limited to mock-ups – the same Su-35 and the fifth-generation T-50 fighter jet.

Russian helicopters will also not take to the skies at Le Bourget this year. Russian Helicopters will present models of the multi-purpose Mi-26T2 and Ka-32A11BC helicopters, as well as the VIP-modification of the Mi-171A2. Russian Helicopters plans to conclude an agreement on the supply of equipment at the Army air show, which is taking place simultaneously with Le Bourget, a company representative explained. The Army 2015 air show practically coincides in dates with Le Bourget. Russian military equipment will be actively presented there, according to Oleg Panteleev, head of the analytical service of the Aviaport agency.
