
Sony Corporation will release the Morpheus virtual reality helmet in the I-II quarter of 2016, 3DNews reports with reference to network sources.
The novelty is expected to compete with the Oculus Rift device, the consumer version of which will be released in the first quarter of 2016. This helmet, according to preliminary information, will be offered at an indicative price of $ 400-600. As for the Sony gadget, in this case we are talking about "several hundred dollars." In other words, the cost of Morpheus can also amount to about 400-500 dollars.
It is known that the new Sony will receive a 5.7-inch display based on organic LEDs (OLED). The image renewal frequency will reach 120 Hz.
The owners will be able to use the helmet in tandem with the PlayStation Dualshock 4 game controller or together with the PlayStation Move manipulator.
The Sony Morpheus system will be able to generate two video streams. One of them will be seen directly by the user of the helmet, and the other - surrounding on the TV screen.
The Morpheus helmet will be the first device in its kind to connect directly to the game console (PlayStation 4), while Oculus Rift will require conjugation with a fairly powerful personal computer.
