The Belgian office of the bailiffs Marc Sacré, Stefan Sacré & Piet de Smet arrested the property of all Russian institutions in the country, with the exception of diplomatic missions. This is reported by Interfax.

The arrest was made on the basis of the decision of the Belgian Arbitration Court of July 18, 2014 at the suit of Yukos Universal Limited, registered on the island of Maine - Autonomy as part of the UK. The court ordered Russia to pay a subsidiary of Yukos 1.6 billion euros.

Among the institutions whose property was arrested are representative offices of the Russian media, as well as the archbishop of the Russian Orthodox Church Brussels and Belgian. All these organizations must, within two weeks of time, declare the money that they have, the property of the Russian Federation and debts to it.

As the bailiffs explained, the arrest is made, because the "daughter of the" Yukos "has serious fears regarding the possibility of obtaining the amount due to him, in particular, due to the systematic refusal of the Russian Federation, to execute the court decisions against it and taking into account the attitude of the Russian Federation to this decision."

The bailiffs recall that the ECHR in 2014 ordered Russia to pay 1.86 billion euros on the claims of the shareholders of the Yukos, and the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe ruled that Moscow, until June 15, 2015, should agree with him a calculation plan with shareholders. Nevertheless, no proposals from Russia regarding these payments have not been received. Moreover, the bailiffs note, Moscow has repeatedly stated that they consider the decision of the ECHR “purely political”, and the costs of the implementation of this decision are not planned in the Russian budget for this year.
