Dollar 53.33

The ruble has strengthened against major world currencies. Since June 5, the official dollar to ruble exchange rate has fallen by another 1.66 rubles and by Friday was 53.33 rubles. Dollar savings in ruble equivalent have become 3% cheaper.

Euro 60.64

The euro fell less rapidly: its rate fell by 1.3 rubles to 60.64 rubles. So the ruble value of assets denominated in euros fell by 2%.

The current dollar exchange rate is 5% lower than at the beginning of 2015, and the euro is 11% lower.

Stocks and bonds

The Russian stock market is drifting in a narrow range of 1630–1670 points on the MICEX index. Overall, over nine trading sessions on the Moscow Exchange, this ruble index has grown by only 1.3%: yesterday, trading on the exchange closed at 1660.14 points.

Ruble prices of 50% of the most liquid shares rose.

The yield on ruble government bonds reached 6.86–11.7% per annum, and on corporate bonds – 11.3–34.11% per annum.

During the period from June 4 to June 17, less than a third of open-end mutual funds showed a decrease in the value of their shares. Due to the strengthening of the ruble against the dollar, mutual funds focused on investing in foreign currency assets on international markets, in particular in stock indices of developed countries, showed negative results. The funds invested in them depreciated by 2-3% during the specified period. However, investments in mutual funds of Russian stocks turned out to be successful (2-4% profit).

Deposits

Large banks continue to actively reduce rates on ruble deposits. Alfa-Bank reduced their yield by 0.2-0.6 percentage points, MTS Bank - by 0.2-1.85 percentage points, SMP Bank , MDM Bank and Rosbank - by 0.2-1 percentage points. In Absolut Bank, ruble deposit rates were reduced by 0.85-1.05% per annum, in Rosselkhozbank - by 0.8-1.6%, in Zenit Bank - by 0.5%. In turn, Uralsib Bank reduced the yield on dollar deposits by 0.5 percentage points (for a term of less than one year), in euros - by 1 percentage point. In MDM Bank, foreign currency rates were reduced by 0.15-0.5% per annum, and in Zenit Bank - by 0.75%.

The average annual deposit rate in 40 banks with the largest volume of deposits now amounts to 11.42% in rubles, 3.90% in dollars, 3.42% in euros.

Gold

A troy ounce of gold on the world market rose in price by 2% to $1,198.9. But platinum fell by 1.7% to $1,080 per ounce, and silver by 0.2% ($16.18 per ounce).
