The Investigative Committee issued a decision to attract State Duma deputy Ilya Ponomarev as the accused in the case of embezzlement at the Skolkovo Foundation. This was stated by deputy lawyer Maria Bast, Interfax reports .

The lawyer was invited to the Investigative Committee of the receipt of this decision. According to Bast, she also intends to find out whether the case of treason was initiated against Ponomarev.

Earlier, Bast reported that Ponomarev received information about the initiation of a new case against him under Article 275 of the Criminal Code (Gosizman). No details were known to the deputy or his defense himself. On June 17, Bast told Interfax that she would send an official lawyer's request addressed to the head of the Investigative Committee of Alexander Bastrykin about the new case. In the Investigative Committee, these messages did not comment on in any way.

On June 9, the official representative of the Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin said that Bastrykin opened a criminal case against Ponomarev on a complicity in the waste of the Skolkovo Foundation. "The chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia against the State Duma deputy Ilya Ponomarev opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under part 5 of Article 33 and part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code (aiding in a waste on an especially large scale). In accordance with the current legislation, the consent of the State Duma was received," Markin said.

"Due to the fact that Ponomarev is outside the Russian Federation, the investigation plans to initiate his international wanted list with subsequent extradition so that he appears before Russian justice. Along with this consequence, measures will be taken to compensate for damage from this crime," said the representative of the SKR.

On March 26, Markin said that Ponomarev was an accomplice in the vice president of Skolkov, Alexei Beltyukov, now living in the United States. The damage to the deputy is, according to Markin, more than 22 million rubles. Obviously, this refers to 750 thousand dollars of fees received by Ponomarev in 2010 for a lecture rate of lectures and writing a scientific work. At the rate of that time, 750 thousand dollars were equivalent to more than 22 million rubles.

Ponomarev has been living in the United States for more than six months. The deputy appealed this decision in the Moscow City Court and the Supreme Court, but in both instances he lost the trial.
