Preliminary hearings in the Tsarnaev case were held in July 2013, the trial on the merits began a few months later. On April 9, 2015, the jury found the defendant guilty of all 30 points of charge. According to 17 of these points, the law made it possible to appoint Tsarnaev the death penalty.
