Law enforcement agencies detained the former financial director of Trust Bank. This was reported by official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Elena Alekseeva in an interview with Interfax. This information was confirmed by the press service of Trust Bank.

He was detained as part of a criminal case regarding the theft of funds from a credit organization. The Ministry of Internal Affairs does not name the banker. An RBC source close to Trust Bank confirmed that we are talking about the former financial director. According to the Vedomosti newspaper , we are talking about Evgeniy Romakov.

The investigation intends to file a petition with the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow to select a preventive measure for the detainee.

Trust Bank stated that the organization is cooperating with law enforcement agencies as part of the investigation into a fraud case against the bank’s former management. However, due to the specific nature of the investigative actions, Trust refused to give more detailed comments.

On May 27, investigators charged the former head of the treasury, the deputy chairman of the bank’s board of directors, with fraud, who had also previously been detained. As reported, on May 21, the Tverskoy court arrested the ex-deputy chairman of the board of Trust Bank Oleg Dikusar. It is worth noting that at that time no charges were brought against him.

According to investigators, representatives of the management of Trust Bank entered into a conspiracy to steal funds from the credit institution. From 2012 to 2014, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the criminals entered into fictitious loan agreements with a number of legal entities that were registered in Cyprus. Under the agreements, more than 7 billion rubles, as well as over $118.3 million, were transferred to the accounts of legal entities.

Currently, law enforcement officers are investigating two criminal cases of fraud. Previously, they were combined into one production.

At the end of 2014, the Central Bank decided to rehabilitate Trust. According to the regulator, the difference between the value of the bank’s assets and the size of its liabilities is 67.8 billion rubles. The bank “FC Otkrytie” is engaged in reorganization. In January 2015, the regulator reported that Trust’s problems arose due to the actions of the bank’s previous owners and management. At the same time, the Central Bank expressed suspicion about a possible withdrawal of assets. Trust shareholders did not agree with the regulator’s conclusions . They believe that what happened to the bank is a consequence of the crisis in the consumer lending market.
