Londoner Tom Feeney started raising money to pay Greece's debt to the IMF on the IndieGoGo crowdfunding platform. Feeney proposes to raise 1.6 billion euros, which Greece had to pay no later than June 30, but could not agree with European creditors.
In three days, the proposal of the Englishman has collected at the time of writing the news 936 thousand euros from more than 50 thousand donors. There are six days left until the end of the fundraiser. If the funds are not collected on time, then all the money will be returned to the donors.
As bonuses for donations, Fini offers a variety of Greek products - from goat cheese to the alcoholic drink ouzo, as well as a week-long vacation in Greece. How Feeney is going to transfer the money to Greece in case they suddenly manage to collect it, is not specified. The Englishman emphasizes that he has never been involved in politics and has not communicated with representatives of the Greek government.
“I invested in a bottle of ouzo, it's only 10 euros. If every third European does this, we will reach the goal!” (English.)
