In Yerevan, at 12:40 Monday, police began dismantling barricades on Marshal Baghramyan Avenue, which were collected from trash cans by demonstrators protesting against rising electricity tariffs. According to the publication "Armenian News - NEWS.am", the barricade was dismantled in ten minutes amid disgruntled cries of protesters. The avenue, where the presidential residence is located, was blocked for two weeks. At 12:50, several dozen young people remained on the roadway of the avenue.

Earlier on Monday, the police gave the demonstrators an hour to end the protest - until 12:30 local time (11:30 Moscow time), Interfax reports . After that, the police were going to remove the objects obstructing traffic from the roadway. Deputy Chief of Yerevan Police Valery Osipyan suggested that the protesters unblock the avenue voluntarily and move to the sidewalk or to Freedom Square. Deputy Chief of Police of Armenia Hunan Poghosyan noted that the protesters' main demands had been met, and the police officers who used force on June 23 would be held accountable. As News.am reports , David Sanasaryan, press secretary of the pro-Western Heritage Party, who positions himself as the coordinator of the protest, refused the police's offers.

"Novosti Armenii" reports that the police unblocked the avenue and restored traffic without using force. Several protesters were detained. The police formed a chain along the sidewalk. The garbage cans were taken away by representatives of the company "Sanitek".

On June 17, the Armenian authorities decided to raise the price of 1 kW of electricity in Armenia by 6.93 drams (475.03/$) from August 1. On June 19, a round-the-clock protest against the price increase began in Freedom Square in the center of Yerevan. The action was organized by the civil movement "No to robbery!" Since June 23, protesters have been blocking Baghramyan Avenue, where the residence of the President of Armenia and other important administrative facilities are located. The authorities have not yet agreed to cancel the increase in tariffs, which they call justified. On June 27, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan announced that the government would assume the entire burden associated with the increase in electricity tariffs until the results of the audit of the Electric Networks of Armenia company are received.
