The Patriotic Stop List prepared by the Federation Council includes 12 foreign NPOs. This was stated by the speaker of the upper house Valentina Matvienko, Interfax reports .

“Tomorrow at the meeting, we will accept the appeal to the Prosecutor General and the Foreign Procedure and the Foreign Ministry and provide them with our patriotic stop list, which will include 12 foreign organizations working in the Russian Federation,” Matvienko noted. “This list is not exhaustive and aimed at warning. We know about the activities of these organizations, and this activity is brightly political in nature.”

At the same time, the speaker did not call the organization included in the list. According to her, the prosecutor's office and the Foreign Ministry will have to check how the activities of these NPOs complies with Russian law. “And if this activity violates Russian legislation, then they will be included in the list of“ undesirable organizations, ”Matvienko emphasized.

The compilation of "stop lists" takes place on the initiative of the regions, Matvienko noted. “We receive many appeals from the regions that are concerned that certain NPOs work on their territory, receive funds from abroad, but at the same time they conduct political activities, and this cannot but bother,” she said.

Later, an unnamed source in the Committee on International Affairs of the Federation Council informed Interfax that the Soros Foundation, the Makanturov Foundation, the National Democratic Institute, the National Democracy Support, the East European Democratic Center, the World Coordinating Council, as well as a number of other organizations, "including those who lead their human rights activities on the territory of the North Caucasus," will be included in the list. He also noted that the list will include such an “odious” organization as the World Ukrainian Congress.

On May 23, Vladimir Putin signed the law on "undesirable foreign organizations." These NPOs cannot transfer money to Russia, implement programs, and also open their representative offices here. It is also prohibited to disseminate information materials from such organizations.

For participation in the activities of the "undesirable" NGOs, citizens are threatened with fines, and for the leadership of such organizations, as well as when re -involved for participation in their work, up to 6 years of the colony under article 284.1 of the Criminal Code. Foreigners participating in the activities of "undesirable" NPOs are prohibited to Russia.

On May 24, the official representative of the US State Department Marie Harf announced the deep concern of Washington in connection with the adoption of the law. This law, the official emphasized, "will lead to an even greater restriction of civil society in Russia and will become another example of the growing suppression of" freedom of speech and isolation of Russians from the rest of the world.

State Duma deputies from the Communist Party and LDPR have already applied to the Prosecutor General with a request to check a number of international NPOs. On June 12, Deputy Prosecutor Grin, Viktor Grin, noted that the supervisory authority is ready to take response measures against international NPOs in accordance with Russia in accordance with its competence.
