Omar Sharif died

Today, July 10, in Cairo at the age of 83, the Egyptian film actor Omar Sharif died.

Omar Sharif (Michelle Demitri Shalhub) was born in 1932 in Alexandria, studied at the college of Victoria (Alexandria), graduated from the Cairo University with a diploma of mathematics and physics.

He began to star in the cinema in the mid-1950s. The first role in the English -language film, Lawrence of Arabia, 1962, brought Omar the Sharif Golden Globe, the Oscar nomination and world fame.

He received his second Golden Globe in 1966 for the main role in the film “ Doctor Zhivago”.

The filmography of Omar Sharif has several dozen paintings, mainly adventure. The last film with the participation of the actor, “Rock the Casbah”, was released in 2013.

In 2003, at the Venice Film Festival, Omar Sharif was awarded the Golden Leo for his contribution to world cinema.
