Firstly, Turkmenistan announced to Gazprom insolvent.
Secondly, the news appeared that the construction of the first thread of the “Turkish stream” did not begin, there was still no agreement with Turkey, and because of this, Gazprom terminated the contract with the Italian company Saipem.
The pipe layer has already arrived in the Anapa area, the work should have begun in the first decade of June. But this did not happen.
Now Gazprom will be forced to pay Saipem about $ 300 million for a simple one.
The company was waiting for work for about six months, from the moment of stopping the South Stream.
Gazprom said that this is not the end of the Turkish Stream project, and in the near future the search for a new contractor for laying the first thread will begin.
But at the moment, this, of course, is a complete failure of the strategy.
Everything is bad with Turkmenia too.
This country has been supplying us with gas since the Soviet Union. In the USSR, Turkmen gas went to the south of Russia, to Ukraine and southern Europe.
After the dissolution of the USSR, Russia continued to buy and resell Turkmen gas. This was accompanied by an endless dispute about the price and volume of supplies.
Then Gazprom expanded the prey at the expense of Yamal, which is why the need for Turkmen gas almost disappeared.
In 2010, Turkmenistan agreed to reduce the price to $ 240 per thousand cubic meters (according to the oil formula), and the supply volume of up to 10 billion cubic meters per year.
In recent years, they worked, but in 2015 Gazprom agreed to buy only 4 billion cubic meters.
Today, Gazprom can extract 617 billion cubic meters, but only 443 billion cubic meters really mines. No sales.
Turkmen gas is all the more.
Gazprom, in violation of a long -term contract, requires a decrease in the price and reduction of volumes.
That is, it behaves as Ukraine behaves in relation to Gazprom.
Everything would be fine, commerce is commerce, but there are two circumstances.
Firstly, Turkmenistan builds independent deliveries. This creates Gazprom competition not only in Europe (the gas pipeline project through the Caspian Sea), but also in China.
Secondly, in Europe, Gazprom insists on long-term contracts, which he himself violates in relation to Turkmenistan. This is a weakening of the negotiation position. Double standards do not like anywhere.
Yes, there is a third moment.
The Turkmens accused Gazprom of non -payments and bankruptcy (Gazprom since the beginning of 2015 has not paid for its debts to the Turkmengaz Group for the delivered volumes of Turkmen natural gas - this is what it is said in the country's government portal)) Exactly at the time of the BRICS, SCO and the EAEU in Ufa.
That is, they did this with the maximum reputation damage for Gazprom.
The struggle for the Chinese market! Classic!
Gazprom has its own complaints to Turkmenistan to the supplier, but the image of a reliable partner who is so cracking at the seams can not be saved! And again the ghost of the Stokolm arbitration blows!
The impression is that soon Gazprom will solve all their problems with partners in Stolm!
In general, the idea of transferring gas trading into long -term contracts seemed to be nowhere to be suitable!
You see, and everyone blames Putin of not trying to build long -term relationships. So I tried here, with gas and Gazprom. Everything flew!
