About Barkempe 2015

Last weekend, a unique event took place - an educational camp in the fresh air of Syktyvkar, the citywide "Barkemp".

I participate in Barkempe a second time. The informal conference is organized by 7x7 and the Memorial CCP, and this year it was supported by the Committee of Civil Initiatives and the Foundation of Alexei Kudrin. Thanks to this, leading federal experts were invited: journalist Nikolai Svanidze, economist Natalya Zubarevich, scientist Alexander Rubtsov, political analyst Alexander Kynev, human rights activist Andrei Yurov.

In that year, I was surprised how free communication on Barkempe (there are no forbidden topics), and all performances help to understand the processes that occur in the country and help to be built into public processes. In other words, this is an enlightenment that you will not receive at the university (after all, there is a discussion only about the events of past centuries, but not about the current ones), or on other similar sites. I was also surprised at how active the youth in Syktyvkar is, ready to deal with urban problems.

A few came to the third Barkemp from Kirov: four people. Even then, Nikolai Golikov told how the opposition edition of the Vyatka Special Gazeta survived in a small city survive. Now the publication has already closed. It was on the last Barkempe that I realized that this event is rare and therefore very important for the regions. Perhaps this format, public speaking, informal master classes devoted to problematic issues that are not discussed anywhere, pushed me to create a club of young journalists in Kirov.

This year I decided that I should find out about Barkemp as many people from Kirov, I personally invited many, because I was sure that it would be voiced on it, I need to hear. In general, participation in it is a good start for action, updating processes and launching new projects in our city. So, the Kirov edition “7x7”, Nikolai Golikov (now editor “Product-Mining-Tovar”) and Oleg Prokhorenko (editor of “Business News in Kirov”), and civil and political activists gathered at the Barkemp.

In addition, we prepared several performances from the Kirov delegation. Anatoly Kurbatov, a representative of the Beautiful Kirov movement told how to make the city better, Alexander Amosov, expert research expert of the Infometer project-how to achieve an answer from the official. I talked about storytelling as a new way to tell a story on the Internet and the new opportunities of a journalist.

Many Kirov participants, after Barkemp, told me that such an enlightenment is worth it, and that they would surely bring friends with them for the next year. There were many questions, whether we can organize this in Kirov. I want to say that I need to start with enthusiasm and interest in what is happening in the public life of the city, and more with proposals, the introduction of the best practices that will help to change something for the better. In Kirov, civil activists tried to unite recently - at the forum of city communities.

Evgeny Artyukin , member of the Youth Parliament of the Kirov region:

- I am still impressed by the trip. During these two days I learned a lot of useful, new information, met interesting people. In a word, he was charged with energy for the whole year. I want to work, create. In delight with the organization. Lectures carried practical meaning, were served lively and "tasty." Even cool weather did not interfere, on the contrary, brought everyone closer, gathered around the fire. From the experience of being in the youth parliament of the Kirov region, I got the impression that Kirov youth is absolutely indifferent, and she is ready to adopt any laws with above. The youth of the Komi is the absolute opposite of ours, it discusses and expresses its opinion not only on issues of local legislation, but also throughout the federation. Thanks to the organizers for the surprisingly friendly atmosphere. This was my first and definitely not the last Barkemp.

- I liked the fact that there were no “left”, those who are usually driven to any educational sites. Here everyone was absorbed in what was happening, I was struck by the quality of the listeners, thanks to this, a very good dialogue took place. I came with an understanding of how to live on. It is necessary to roll up the sleeves - and act. Carried people arrived at Barkemp. I shared the knowledge and experience in the “Beautiful Kirov” movement with Syktyvkar social activists, spoke about my mistakes and achievements on the project.

Denis Strelkov , student VyatSU, correspondent "7x7":

- Barkemp, nevertheless, an amazing format. You seem to be far from civilization, but at the same time, in its center. In the old barn, leading experts of Russia perform between haysters, talk about global problems. Constantly changing sites do not give time to rest. With all this, it was necessary to manage to write texts for broadcasting on the site "7x7". It seems to me in vain that Barkemp was called the citywide Syktyvkar. He already, at least, should carry the title of interregional educational site.

Vladimir Melkishev , representative of nationalists in Kirov:

- An important fact, as the organizers say, everyone can speak, without ideological restrictions. Of many lectures, two were most remembered. Strong, bright, touching sharp topics of the performances of Nikolai Svanidze and Andrei Yurov. I will not say that I heard something new from Svanidze, since I often listen to it on the Echo of Moscow radio, but I am glad that such an opinion is voiced somewhere in addition to the capital, it is heard in information sites in the regions. Probably this goal was set by the organizers: to create an alternative information site where you can tell people about global and local problems, which, unfortunately, are not voiced by the federal state media. I would like that such events would be attended by random people, perhaps not ready to hear, what was voiced by human rights activists, economists, ecologists. Let the new information be shocked, let it be partially incomprehensible, let the template break, but the main thing will be heard.

- I went to Barkemp for knowledge, which I had plenty of plenty, for which many thanks to the organizers. For herself, she identified a lot of useful links from the speeches of Andrei Stanislavsky and Denis Zhebov. I was pleased with the atmosphere on the "evening of pure sound" from Maxim Polyakov. Probably, it was this evening that “made” the entire atmosphere of Barkempa. It was also interesting to listen to professionals in their topic: economist Natalya Zubarevich, political scientist Alexander Kynev and, of course, the main guest Nikolai Karlovich Svanidze. After their lectures, a lot cleared up in my head.
Analyzing now the speeches of all speakers (human rights activists, public figures, journalists and others) I can conclude that the main message of the fourth Barkempa is all in your hands! Everything will work out, you just have to start!

Gulnara Golikova , philosopher:

- Lying on the hayloft or sitting on a penalty, you can talk with the philosopher of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Rubtsov and professor at Moscow State University Natalya Zubarevich about national archetypes, about the Chinese modernization model, about the crisis in Russia ... about anything! For this, I love the Syktyvkar Barkemp: borders are erased there - geographical, social, age, masks are removed, everything becomes clear without words.
