The leaders of the Eurozone countries following the results of the 17-hour meeting came to an agreement, according to which Greece remains in the euro zone. It is reported by Reuters.
As the Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, said at the end of negotiations, Greece is supposed to allocate up to 86 billion euros for three years. In particular, 25 billion is necessary for the recapitalization of Greek banks. The Eurozone countries are ready to restructure the debts of Athens, but not to write off them, the German leader emphasized.
In turn, the Greece parliament must adopt laws on key economic transformations before Wednesday. This, in particular, is about the reform of the VAT, the reorganization of the national statistical agency and a decrease in pensions. Only after that, Merkel noted, the parliaments of the Euros zone will consider the issue of the next program to help Athens.
The day before, the chairman of the European Council, Donald Tusk, canceled the Summit of the European Union dedicated to the situation in Greece, saying that the summit of the Eurozone member countries will be held instead . A day earlier, it became known that the Eurogroup, uniting finance ministers of these countries, is considering the possibility of temporary - for 5 years - the exclusion of Greece from the euro zone.
Meanwhile, according to TASS, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak announced the intention of Moscow to "support the restoration of the Greece economy by expanding cooperation in the energy sector." He did not rule out the "direct supply of energy raw materials" in Greece in the near future. The department, added Novak, expects to "come to an agreement within a few weeks."
