
State Duma deputy Ilya Ponomarev, accused in the case of embezzlement of funds from the Skolkovo Foundation, was put on the international wanted list in early July. This was reported by TASS with reference to a certain source in law enforcement agencies. The search leads the Russian Bureau of Interpol.
Meanwhile, Interfax, citing Maria Bast, a deputy’s lawyer, reports that the TFR turned to the Basmanny District Court of Moscow with a petition for the correspondence arrest of Ponomarev. The petition will be examined in the coming Friday, July 17.
According to the TFR, Ponomarev, now living in the United States, was an accomplice in the Vice President of Skolkov, Alexei Beltyukov, who also now lives in the United States. The deputy is charged with the receipt from the fund in 2010 of unreasonably high fees - 750 thousand dollars (more than 22 million rubles at the then rate) - for a performance with a course of lectures and writing a scientific work.
On March 25, the Prosecutor General’s Office introduced the State Duma about the deprivation of Ponomarev’s deputy immunity. April 7, this performance was satisfied .
On June 9, it became known that the chairman of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, opened a case against Ponomarev under part 5 of Article 33 - Part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code (aiding in empties on an especially large scale). Then the intention was reported to put the deputy on the international wanted list, since he disappeared from Russia.
On June 24, Ponomarev became the accused in the case .
A week earlier, a lawyer Bast stated that a case may also initiate a case against the deputy under Article 275 of the Criminal Code (state treason). She promised to send a request in the name of Bastrykin on this occasion. Meanwhile, according to Article 151 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (defense), the case of treason is not exciting the TFR, but by the FSB.
