Today, July 21, in the Museum Moscow Park, the cinema -sounding program that has already become a traditional retrospective program begins - shows of the dumb Soviet cinema classics with lively musical accompaniment (every Tuesday will take place, the beginning of the film is at 22:00). The first in the program is “My Grandmother” Kot Mikaberidze, which will be voiced by the improvisational duet of Konstantin Sukhan and Dmitry Kuzovlev. Read more about this and other films of the program - as well as about musicians (and composers) responsible for sound accompaniment, ”says Maxim Semenov and Evgeny Galochkin.
"My grandmother" director Kote Mikaberidze, 1929 (July 21, 22:00)A large table, furnished with chairs. The back of each chair is the door with a sign. On the plate - indication of the position. Bureaucrats live here. Sometimes they fall in love, sometimes even die, but mostly indulge in the sacred laziness, which even the arrival of visitors does not interrupt. In their blessed country of oblivion, time itself can stop.
But Komsomol does not sleep! One clever blow with a pen ... and now a certain bureaucrat loses its place. All that can save him is a “grandmother”, a patronage, a recommendation from a good person.
A masterpiece of the avant-garde, once prohibited for the “Trotskyist attitude to rotting of the Soviet system”, the film Kote Mikaberidze, is part of the satirical tradition that existed in Soviet art in the second half of the 20s. In addition to Mayakovsky’s works (the monumental figure of a worker from “My Grandmother” reminds of the aesthetics of growth windows of growth), several films can be attributed to it. This is Don Diego and Pelagia Protazanov, the “Skeleton” of Spikovsky, the “State Council” Pyryev and the lost comedy of Levshin “Hameleon”.
Tightly attached to “here” and “now”, they turned out to be perhaps the most intelligible and certainly the most relevant of what the Soviet film evacence left us. Each of their tricks is visible and justified, and the surreal world of bored officials and dexterous businessmen looks new, regardless of the political system.
It is worth noting that all this is also very fun. The same “my grandmother” is primarily a satirical comedy, and therefore her grotesque is no darker than the grotesque of any comedy in general. Mikaberidze prefers an eccentric resonance. Even his sarcasm looks cheerful. And when the revived children's toys in the frame alternate with a bureaucrat hanging under the ceiling and his wife dancing with happiness, there is nothing left but pure delight.
Voice: Konstantin Sukhan and Dmitry Kuzovlev
The duet of Konstantin Sukhan and Dmitry Kuzovlev was not born by chance and, in fact, for a long time. Last winter, the guys tormented analog symbols, samplers and lotions, creating in places a bizarre atonal quality of some special nature: through the grinding of sequences, the roar of barrels clearly differed, at some point that generated a real gabber. Sukhan (Trubach Metro-3, Brome, etc.) at those moments was not taken for copper, and the multi-instrumentalist Kuzovlev did not touch the guitar or the bass. And now the guys have come up with a special program, expanding the tools. Sukhan out of habit will not play on the pipe, his weapon is a hundred -year -old mandolin, vibro -dynamics and various resonator objects mainly a shock -free. Kuzovlev also remains true to himself - he will leave the guitar at home and take up the synthesizers and controller. The resulting pulsation must dashingly go under the malicious eccentric of the "grandmother".
Yes, in fact, the project of Sukhan and Kuzovlev is called the "Mirror". “The mirror is like a screen in which we see someone or something. This is clearly not me and not the subject that is reflected. This is someone new. Appearing. Approaching the mirror, I watch the movie. And Dima and I will sit and watch a mirror, ”Konstantin Sukhan commented on his method.
