The Financial Times will be bought by the Japanese media corporation Nikkei. The deal amounted to 844 million pounds (about 1.3 billion dollars).
- The Nikkei Corporation includes several newspapers with a total circulation of more than four million copies. In addition, it includes TV channels and a radio station. Nikkei 225 is the main Japanese stock index.
- Pearson Publishing House owned The Financial Times for nearly 60 years. The newspaper is one of the world's leading economic publications along with The Wall Street Journal.
- After the announcement of the sale by The Financial Times, Pearson's shares on the London Stock Exchange rose by more than three percent .
