Director Vasily Pichul died

On Sunday, July 26, filmmaker Vasily Pichul died in Moscow at the age of 54.

This was reported by Interfax with reference to the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation. The cause of death was lung cancer.

Vasily Vladimirovich Pichul was born in 1961, in 1983 he graduated from the director's department of VGIK (workshop of Marlene Khutsiev).

In 1988, one of the main films of the time of perestroika - “Little Faith”, shot by Pichul in his native Mariupol, was released. The film received several awards at international film festivals, in particular, the Fipresci Award in Venice.

In the filmography of the director, there are several more full -length playing paintings, including “The Dark Nights in the city of Sochi” (1989), “The Dreams of the Idot” (1993) and “Heaven in Diamonds” (1999).

Vasily Pichul also worked on New Year's Telemiusical “Old Songs about the main 3” (1997, TEFI Award for the best television program of the year), was the author of the NTV channel, including the satirical program “Dolls” (1994–1997). The last work of the director was the documentary series "Resort Roman".
