Amazon may open its own physical stores where users can pick up previously ordered items. The first such store may appear in the town of Sunnyvale, California.

American online retailer Amazon may acquire physical stores, writes the Silicon Valley Business Journal, citing its own source. It is planned that users will be able to first order the goods they need on the website, and then drive up to the store and pick up the goods. This can be done at a predetermined time: users will be asked to select a time period from 15 minutes to 2 hours. Amazon customers will be able to receive their goods through the service window by driving up to it in a car, or go into the store itself and pick up the goods from there.

Reportedly, the first such store may appear in the town of Sunnyvale, California, where the company has allegedly already agreed to lease a new building with an area of 1080 square meters. m. Nowhere in the documents, however, is the name of the company listed.

Note that this is not the first time that rumors have appeared in the press about Amazon’s possible entry into the real world as the owner of physical stores. However, until now these rumors have never been confirmed. As for self-pickup points, the American retailer already offers its customers in the US Amazon Fresh and Amazon Locker services, which allow you to order an item and then pick it up from a locker in a specific store at a specific time.

The possible opening of a physical store is not the only innovation that Amazon is trying to introduce into its work. The company is also actively testing a package delivery system using unmanned aerial vehicles, which could deliver goods to customers within 30 minutes of placing an order.
