The Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation has entered the Foundation for Assistance to the Development of Civil Society GOLOS-Ural in the register of foreign agents, Interfax reports with reference to the press service of the department.
According to the news agency, an inspection of the organization by the department of the Ministry of Justice for the Chelyabinsk region established that Golos-Ural is a non-profit organization that performs the functions of a foreign agent.
GOLOS-Ural is a division of the human rights organization Golos, which monitors elections in Russia. The organization applied for a presidential grant to carry out its activities. In case of victory, all units of GOLOS could use the funds, but the request of the Urals GOLOS was denied.
Earlier, the state returned to GOLOS the previously paid fine in the amount of 400 thousand rubles, now a procedure has been launched to exclude the organization from the register of foreign agents.
