A criminal case was initiated against him under part 3 of article 272 of the Criminal Code (illegal access to computer information). At the moment, Pivovarov has been detained for 48 hours until the circumstances of the case are clarified.

As Yashin writes, Pivovarov had the opportunity to clarify in law enforcement agencies the correspondence of the data of citizens who signed for PARNAS to actual information. Yesterday he arrived at the police station and turned to one of the police officers with a request to check the specified data. The police officer invited him to his office and asked him to wait. After a short time, operational officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs entered the room. Pivovarov and the police officer who was in the room were detained and sent to the office of the Investigative Committee for the Kostroma Region. Throughout the night, a lawyer was not allowed to see Pivovarov.

“We consider Pivovarov innocent due to the fact that he did not commit any illegal acts. He did not commit any illegal access to computer information protected by law, which would entail the destruction, blocking, modification or copying of this information (that is, what the investigating authorities suspect Pivovarov of).

We draw attention to the fact that politically motivated decisions of election commissions that refuse to register opposition parties and candidates for elections are forcing the opposition to use every opportunity to verify signatures on the eve of their transfer to the election commission,” Yashin notes.
