Aleksey Kolyasnikov, leader of the Community of Christians group of evangelical Christians, who was fined for publicly reading the Bible in a cafe in Sochi, filed a complaint with the ECtHR against the court's decision. In October 2014, the world court fined him 30 thousand rubles. Later, this decision was recognized by the district and regional courts. Kolyasnikov was found guilty of organizing a public event without giving notice of it.
Aleksey Kolyasnikov’s complaint concerns a violation of the right to a fair trial (Article 6 of the Convention), a violation of freedom of thought, conscience and religion (Article 9), freedom of expression (Article 10) and freedom of assembly and association (Article 11 ), reports "Newspaper. Ru" with reference to the lawyer Alexander Popkov, representing the interests of Kolyasnikov.
