The head of the Ministry of Communications may become the chairman of the board of directors of the post office

The government agreed with the creation of a postal bank in partnership with the VTB group, Kommersant reports.

The group will transfer operational control over the new structure. The development of a joint -stock agreement was entrusted to the head of the Ministry of Communications Nikolai Nikiforov, who, according to the sources of the publication, is considered the main candidate for the post of chairman of the board of directors of the post office.

Nikiforov will have to create a subsidiary of a subsidiary at the FSUE “Post of Russia”, which will buy 50% minus 1 share of the bank. Now the option of creating a mail bank on the basis of VTB Summer Bank is being worked out . 99.9% of its shares is owed by VTB 24, which is expected to reduce its share to 50% plus 1 of the shares.

According to experts surveyed by the publication, the main competitive advantage of the mail bank is a network of branches and “access to where there is nothing more except the mail”. According to the “Post” strategy, by 2018 it plans to open current accounts, deposits, to issue cards in 13 thousand departments, to have a database of account owners and cards to 9 million people, as well as increase the proceeds from financial services to 58 billion rubles.
