Judge of the Sverdlovsk District Court of Kostroma Dmitry Balaev arrested for two months the leader of the headquarters of Parnas Andrei Pivovarov in the case of an attempt to access the police database, writes a party officer Polina Nemirovskaya on Twitter.
The court also decided to arrest the second person involved in the same case for two months - police captain Alexei Nikanorov. Parnas member Ilya Yashin, who plans to run for elections to the regional parliament, wrote on Twitter that the policeman pleaded guilty and asked not to arrest him.
Pivovarov was detained on the evening of July 27, when he came to the police station, where he turned to Nikanorov with a request to check the authenticity of the passport data specified in the signatures that the opposition collected for filing in the oblast. Then Nikanorov was detained, who agreed to check the signatures.
Nemirovskaya on Facebook explained that Pivovarov had doubts about the good faith of several signatures. Because of this, he decided to check the reliability of passport data in order to avoid responsibility for a knowingly false denunciation.
The Investigative Committee, in turn, claimed that the policeman provided Pivovarov with access to the integrated bank of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the passport data of residents of the Kostroma region. Bank data, as noted, are intended only for official use.
The criminal case was instituted under part 3 of Article 272 of the Criminal Code of the Federal Assembly (unlawful access to computer information using the official position, if this entailed the destruction, blocking, modification or copying of computer information) and in part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (exceeding official powers). Pivovarov is charged only by the first article, which involves up to five years in prison, but the investigator did not rule out that he can be charged with complicity according to the second, Nikanorov - both. The maximum term for the second article is four years.
Yashin wrote that the case was referred to the department for particularly important cases of the UK. Oppositionists insist on the innocence of Pivovarov, and they consider the criminal case politically motivated.
