Kirsanovsky District Court refused to mitigate the punishment of environmentalist Yevgeny Vitishko. At the meeting, a prison psychologist spoke with a positive response. The court attached to the case the conclusion of the PMC of the Tambov region, according to which Vitishko does not pose a danger at large. The head of the detachment in which Vitishko is located agreed with this, but refused to characterize him positively, because, although ten months had passed since the last penalty, the penalties had not yet “burned out”. Before making its decision, the court did not give the word to the defense (the prosecution stated that it did not support the motion to reduce the sentence).
In April 2015, the court already denied Vitishko parole. After that, the defense filed a petition for mitigation of punishment - replacing the unserved part of the term in the colony-settlement with restriction of freedom.
