Russia announced a person by a senior employee of the Embassy of Sweden. This was reported by Meduza with reference to the statement of the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Yukhan Tegel to the SVT television channel. The official did not specify the name of the embassy employee.
Tegel added that Moscow’s gesture is a response to the recent expulsion of Sweden of a certain Russian diplomat, whom Stockholm suspected of violation of the Vienna Convention regulating consular relations.
“This will not affect relations between countries in the best way,” the official said.
In the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Swedish diplomat is not yet commented on.
After the annexation of Crimea, Russia expelled several Western diplomats, in particular the first secretary of the Canadian Embassy and an employee of the German embassy.
