Aerospace forces appeared in Russia

A new type of armed forces was created in Russia-aerospace forces (VKS). This was reported on August 3 by TASS with reference to the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoigu.

Under the unified leadership, aircraft, troops of anti -air and missile defense, space forces and funds of the armed forces were united.

The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation said that the creation of the VKS is due to the “displacement of the center of gravity of the armed struggle” into the aerospace sphere.

“This allows first of all to concentrate in one hand all responsibility for the formation of a military-technical policy for the development of troops that solve problems in the aerospace sphere; secondly, due to closer integration, increase the efficiency of their application; Thirdly, to ensure the progressive development of the country's aerospace defense system, ”said Shoigu.

The decree on the creation of the VKS was signed by the president on August 1. The new type of the Armed Forces of Russia will consist of three genera: military-air forces (Air Force), air defense and anti-resistance defense (air defense systems) and space troops (KV). Military space forces were headed by Colonel General Viktor Bondarev, who previously commanded the Air Force.
