The United States has decided to protect the camps used to prepare the Syrian rebels with air strikes. It is reported by Reuters with reference to high -ranking American officials.
In accordance with the decree signed by US President Barack Obama, American aircraft can apply air strikes on the positions of the Islamic State (a terrorist group banned in the Russian Federation), as well as the government army of Syria, if the military threaten the camps for the preparation of rebels.
In the White House and Pentagon, the content of the presidential decree is officially not commented.
The training program for Syrian rebels was launched in May. In accordance with it, the United States will prepare 5400 fighters annually. According to the official version, they should help the international coalition to fight ISIS.
From the very beginning of the Syrian conflict, the United States opposed the government of Bashar al -Assad in 2011 and assisted the rebels. In the fall of 2012, Washington was ready to start a power operation against the Assad regime, but later abandoned these plans to exchange chemical weapons from Syria.
